Hello all. This is Ryan, your friendly neighborhood SOTY guitarist. I hope everyone is doing well and smiling. I’m emerging from the forest and writing this little blog because I figure it’s about time that Phil and I make a proper, official announcement to all of our wonderful SOTY fans about our other band, GREEK FIRE. It’s time. We’ve been very low key about it, keeping the two bands completely separate because 1) The two bands sound nothing alike and 2) the two bands have nothing to do with each other from an artistic standpoint. GREEK FIRE is a complete and total departure. First off, NO, SOTY is not over. We are not breaking up, we will always be a band, we are all totally gay for each other and I would die for those guys. Worry not. GREEK FIRE is an ally and another band for you to enjoy. That being said, GREEK FIRE is in no way a “side project”. It is a BAND in every sense of the word. Take the words “side project” and throw em out the window. We are putting 110% into it and shooting for the stars. Phil and I are very creative people who live and breathe our passion for music, and this is something we’ve been planning for years. As artists and creators, GREEK FIRE is satisfying to us on so many levels and in ways that would be hard to explain here. So… to all of you amazing, loyal, beautiful SOTY fans, I, Ryan Phillips, would like to personally and officially invite you to be a part of something that means the world to me. For those of you who are fans of my guitar playing and songwriting in SOTY, fans of Phil’s guitar playing and blistering vocals in SOTY, fans of us as people, or just looking for new music to jam, we would like to officially invite you to the world of GREEK FIRE.
