SOUTH AMERICAN TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT:
We are super excited to announce that we will be returning to South America in August with some of our favorite people on the planet, The Swellers! Our first tour of South America was one of the craziest and most amazing tours we’ve ever done. Late night shows, insane crowds, beer and countless other awesome things. We can’t wait to do it again! Dates and ticket links are below. Hopefully we will be adding a couple of cities as well. We really want to play Rio, so let’s make that happen! Thanks for being so awesome and we’ll see you soon…

Our most beloved hometown fans:

As a band tours as much as we have, a strange thing happens. You find yourself in this sort of rootless, nomadic existence, and your home becomes a hotel room or a bunk in a tour bus, maybe even a futon in a smelly van. You live out of a suitcase and the high point of the week might be a dressing room that has a shower. In the maelstrom that is touring, there are those certain cities that stand out. For us the highlight of any tour is always the St Louis show. That’s when we finally feel like we are home. We look forward to the St Louis date of any tour the way a kid might look forward to Christmas; with anticipation and excitement. There is nothing like a hometown show.

We, the members of Story of the Year, would like to thank the city of St. Louis, MO for over ten years of unwavering love and support. From the amazing folks at 105.7 the Point, to the St Louis Cardinals, to the venues & promoters, to the local bands, to our beautiful fans- we have a fierce loyalty and appreciation for a city that was the first to embrace us and ultimately stick with us through good times and bad. What better way to say THANK YOU than a special blow out show at our favorite venue in the country: THE PAGEANT!

We are going to perform a special, extra long concert, and play every fan favorite from every damn record we’ve put out. We are going to play songs that we haven’t performed in years, or ever. We are going to dance. There will be surprises. People will get pregnant. We are going to play until we throw up. It’s going to be a ridiculous good time.

St Louis, let’s make this a night to remember. And to our many out of town fans, if you find yourself on a road trip to St Louis on June 8th, know that in our eyes you are family as well.

The first leg of the 10th ANNIVERSARY PAGE AVENUE TOUR will kick off in one of our favorite places on earth: JAPAN!

Japan was among the first countries outside of the USA to truly embrace Story of the Year. There is no other place in the world we’ve visited more times. Every show is exceptional, every fan is exceptional, everything about being a touring musician in Japan is exceptional; from thehotels, to the food, to the world class promoters and venues. Some of our wildest nights were fueled by pitchers of Asahi and Sake shots over ridiculous dinners with our Japanese friends, often leading to 3am karaoke madness and 5am cab rides back to the hotel. Some of our best songs were written in Tokyo high rise hotels and some of our most memorable touring experiences came from simply wandering the city streets and soaking up the culture. Japan is truly a magical place.

We will play every song from Page Avenue, in sequence, front to back. Then we will play a bunch of fan favorites and maybe throw in a surprise or two! There will be limited edition 10 Year Anniversary Story of the Year tee shirts & merchandise available for this tour only. Its’ going to be a party!

To our Japanese fans: Thank you for 10 years of amazing memories. Now let’s make 10 more!

「ペイジ・アヴェニュー10周年ツアー」は、なんと僕らが地球上で最も大好きな国、日本からスタートします！
日本は、アメリカ以外で僕たちストーリー・オブ・ザ・イヤーを初期の頃から応援してくれた大切な国のひとつです。
日本以上に訪れた回数が多い国は今までにありません。
日本でのライブは毎回特別で、ファンも特別で、アーティストとして日本ツアーが出来る事自体が本当に特別なのです。ホテル、食べ物、世界一のプロモーター、コンサート会場、
すべてが特別です。
日本の友人達と大量のアサヒビールをピッチャーで飲んだり日本酒のショットをしたり、朝3時までのカラオケ大会、ホテルに朝5時にタクシーに戻ったりと最もクレイジーな夜を日本で過ごしました。
実は僕達の代表曲の何曲は東京のホテルで書きあげて、ただ街をふらふら歩いているだけでインスピレーションを受けました。日本は僕達にとって本当に魔法のような国です。
今回は『ページ・アヴェニュー』をアルバムの曲順通りに演奏します。
もちろんサプライズでみんなが大好きな曲を数曲演奏するかもしれません！
ちなみにストーリー・オブ・ザ・イヤーの10周年記念Tシャツやグッズもこのツアー限定で販売します。最高なパーティーになると思います！
日本のファンの皆さん、この10年間素晴らしい思い出を本当にありがとう。そしてこれから先10年も僕達と一緒に歴史を作っていきましょう！

Hello all. This is Ryan, your friendly neighborhood SOTY guitarist. I hope everyone is doing well and smiling. I’m emerging from the forest and writing this little blog because I figure it’s about time that Phil and I make a proper, official announcement to all of our wonderful SOTY fans about our other band, GREEK FIRE. It’s time. We’ve been very low key about it, keeping the two bands completely separate because 1) The two bands sound nothing alike and 2) the two bands have nothing to do with each other from an artistic standpoint. GREEK FIRE is a complete and total departure. First off, NO, SOTY is not over. We are not breaking up, we will always be a band, we are all totally gay for each other and I would die for those guys. Worry not. GREEK FIRE is an ally and another band for you to enjoy. That being said, GREEK FIRE is in no way a “side project”. It is a BAND in every sense of the word. Take the words “side project” and throw em out the window. We are putting 110% into it and shooting for the stars. Phil and I are very creative people who live and breathe our passion for music, and this is something we’ve been planning for years. As artists and creators, GREEK FIRE is satisfying to us on so many levels and in ways that would be hard to explain here. So… to all of you amazing, loyal, beautiful SOTY fans, I, Ryan Phillips, would like to personally and officially invite you to be a part of something that means the world to me. For those of you who are fans of my guitar playing and songwriting in SOTY, fans of Phil’s guitar playing and blistering vocals in SOTY, fans of us as people, or just looking for new music to jam, we would like to officially invite you to the world of GREEK FIRE.
